Why learn English?
English is getting more important every day - it is a global language, spoken as a first language by more than 400 million people around the world and as a second language by approximately one billion people.
It is the primary language in a number of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore and is also one of the official languages of South Africa.
Estimates suggest that when native and non-native speakers are combined, English is the most widely spoken language in the world and it is also the most widely taught second language globally, with English speaking courses growing in popularity year to year.
In addition to the sheer number of English speakers on the planet, English is becoming more important every day in terms of career progression.
This is because it is the dominant language in diplomacy, business, television, film, music, science, radio and information technology indeed, it is the primary language used on the world wide web and is also utilised as programming language, meaning that many careers require at least a basic ability to speak the language.
As a result of its increased global use, especially in industry, politics and online, learning English is now more important and beneficial than ever before.
English speaking courses can play a vital role in opening up a number of new career options, as well as unlocking a range of other experiences.
This is where Unesco overseas can be of service.
Speak English with students from all over the world at Unesco overseas, we offer a range of different English speaking courses, including both private and group classes.
Our group classes allow students to speak with other English speakers from all over the world, including native speakers, while our private classes offer a more personalised approach, ensuring that the individual needs of the student are taken care of.
Unesco overseas's courses range from beginner level (A1) right through to mastery level (C2), meaning students are able to choose their entry level and then progress through to a stage where they will have complete command over the English language. By the time a student completes a C2 level course, their language skills will be roughly comparable with a native speaker, in terms of reading, speaking and understanding the language.
In addition, our English speaking courses are able to provide fully acknowledged certificates, which authenticate the learning experience and can be used as evidence of a student's progress.
These certificates are issued in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are ideal for enhancing a CV or for gaining entry onto an academic course abroad.
We also offer preparation for language exams, which provide students with all they need to know in order to pass assessments.
All of our English speaking courses are taught by native speakers and us, which means students will be able to learn from and converse with someone who speaks the language impeccably.
This can help correct any mistakes quickly and also helps with some of the more subtle aspects of the language, such as pronunciation.
